President of University Health Network Dr. Kevin Smith took to Twitter on Thursday in a desperate plea for more COVID-19 vaccines.

Not only has UHN run out of vaccines, but they have 3,000 inoculation appointments booked per day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, says the president.

Dr. Smith retweeted Premier Doug Ford's callout to the federal government to release more vaccines to Ontario.

"We need the federal government to deliver more COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible to keep up with our distribution, which continues to increase every day," wrote Ford.

Ford has been adamant that Ontario is in need of thousands of more doses to hit their vaccination goals.

His government says they're committed to getting every staff member and resident of long term care in COVID-19 hotspots vaccinated by January 21.

According to the province, Ontario has administered 72,631 doses to date, with 2,173 total inoculations completed.
