Located just under an hour from the city, Crawford Lake Conservation Area boasts tons of natural beauty, trails, and a meromictic lake with gorgeous blue water.

This pool is unique because the layers of water do not intermix, and the undisturbed lower levels of the lake have led to important discoveries about the area's history.

The lake is just a five- to 10-minute walk from the parking lot along the Crawford Lake trail, and you can follow the boardwalk path around the water for some scenic views.

If you plan on visiting the area, you must book a reservation in advance.
