General Motors Canada is getting ready to reopen its Oshawa assembly plant after its closure in 2019, and there are a ton of positions that are now accepting applications.

The plant informed Narcity that it is looking to fill over 1,600 permanent, full-time jobs in Oshawa for its full-sized truck production.

The positions include:

  • 1,500 production workers for openings later in the year with hourly wages starting at $23 per hour
  • 110 certified electricians for immediate openings with an hourly wage of $43 per hour
  • 60 certified industrial mechanic-millwrights for immediate openings with an hourly wage of $43 per hour

The total compensation package for the skilled trades positions could exceed $100K per year when overtime, benefits, pension, and more are taken into account.
