Have a movie night instead!
Contributing Writer

Looks like Halloween in Ontario won't involve trick-or-treating in some spots.

Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Monday that the provincial government would be taking a firm stance against trick-or-treating this year.

Anyone in Toronto, Peel, York or Ottawa regions are being told to do other activities instead.

I'd like to remind everyone to take extra precautions to ensure you are keeping yourself and your families safe.

Dr. David Williams

"Given the high transmission of COVID-19 in the modified Stage 2 public health unit regions of Ottawa, Peel, Toronto, and York Region, traditional door-to-door trick or treating is not recommended and people should consider alternative ways to celebrate," Williams added.

Ontario's top doctor released a list of safer alternatives that residents are recommended to try, to avoid spreading COVID-19 in their communities.

Recommended activities include virtual Halloween parties, movie nights, and decorating.

The new development comes as parts of Ontario enter into a modified stage two of its reopening plan.

The province has seen an increase in cases of COVID-19 over the past few weeks with experts warning of a second wave.
