Looks like Halloween in Ontario won't involve trick-or-treating in some spots.

Anyone in Toronto, Peel, York or Ottawa regions are being told to do other activities instead.

"Given the high transmission of COVID-19 in the modified Stage 2 public health unit regions of Ottawa, Peel, Toronto, and York Region, traditional door-to-door trick or treating is not recommended and people should consider alternative ways to celebrate," Williams added.

Ontario's top doctor released a list of safer alternatives that residents are recommended to try, to avoid spreading COVID-19 in their communities.

Recommended activities include virtual Halloween parties, movie nights, and decorating.

The new development comes as parts of Ontario enter into a modified stage two of its reopening plan.

The province has seen an increase in cases of COVID-19 over the past few weeks with experts warning of a second wave.
