The victim at first thought his intoxicated attacker was doing him a favour, retrieving balls and throwing them back into the infield. However, things quickly got heated.

The accused reportedly became verbally abusive and ended up throwing one of the balls towards the man.

Police were able to locate the man's attacker after a brief search of the area.

When approached officers noticed a "strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and the accused appeared to be intoxicated."

The suspect was transported back to police headquarters. He has since been released and is expected to appear in court.
