Guy In Medical Gown Spotted Stumbling Around & Collapsing At Woodbine Beach (VIDEOS)
This looks like the start of a bad horror movie. A video of a man in a hospital gown at Woodbine Beach made its way online this past Sunday. Beach-goers looked on as the guy coughed and wheezed before collapsing dramatically onto the boardwalk.
Instagram user s1m0n2013 told Narcity that the sighting occurred at around 3:00 p.m. on June 28. He was the one to initially share the footage on social media.
In the video, the man is seen stumbling around barefoot, dressed in what appears to be a medical gown, a medical bracelet and a face mask.
He starts coughing loudly and appears to be in pain. He then falls to his hands and knees.
Onlookers approach cautiously as he struggles and collapses repeatedly into the sand.
"At this point, several people call 911," reads the text in the video.
However, the user seems to think it was a prank. “I didn’t speak with the man in detail about his intentions or purpose. I interpret it as satire,” the user said.
“In the background of the video you can see the mass crowds at the beach as if it were a typical summer Sunday afternoon in Toronto,” said s1m0n2013.
The user had originally posted the videos to his Instagram story. Among them was a clip that showed the man in the medical gown with a camera strapped to his chest. This video has now been deleted.
Mark Clearview of the YouTube channel The Noodle Boys reached out to Narcity, confirming that he was the one in the video.
The video of Clearview's dramatic display at Woodbine Beach has been uploaded to their channel. It's called "COVID PATIENT EXPERIMENT."
“I was shooting an experiment to prove Canadians are no longer distancing,” he said to Narcity.*
The video has also been shared on Reddit, where several commenters also seem convinced that the man was a prankster.
"All the covid patients I've seen can't even get up to go to the toilet due to fatigue," reads one comment. "3 months on they still have to catch their breath after walking to the toilet. Serious stuff!"
It wouldn't be the first time someone pretended to be sick in public as a prank recently. A 28-year-old was arrested by Peel Regional Police in February for pretending to be infected with COVID-19 on a plane.
In Alberta, a 20-year-old was arrested for filming herself licking items in a store as part of the "COVID Challenge" on TikTok.
