7-Eleven Just Applied To Serve Booze Inside 61 Stores In Ontario

7-Eleven wants to become your new neighbourhood bar, apparently.
Contributor

It looks like your corner convenience store wants to reinvent itself as your new neighbourhood bar.

Ontario's 7-Eleven stores have filed an application with the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) for on-site liquor consumption at 61 locations.

The AGCO says that its applications are for on-site consumption when it's allowed in the province again.

The locations are all over the GTA and southern Ontario, from Sarnia all the way to Pickering.

The applications were submitted on February 11 and are now in the public notice phase, a process that could take 7 to 28 days, according to the AGCO.

According to Durham Radio News, the convenience stores would only be allowed to serve alcohol, as opposed to selling it for takeout or delivery.

Narcity has reached out for more details about the plans 7-Eleven has in store and will update the story when we hear back.

This concept wouldn't be entirely new to Ontario. Toronto already has a hidden speakeasy bar tucked inside a convenience store.
