You Can Now Apply For $200 From The Ontario Government For Each High Schooler You Have

But applications close in less than a month.

Applications are now open for the extended Ontario Support For Learner's program, designed by the province to help families navigate the pandemic.

The program was originally announced in November 2020 but only applied to children up to the age of 12 or children with special needs up to the age of 21 — now, the program has been expanded to include more eligible people.

$200 One-time payment available to Ontario parents

The one-time payment program now applies to all students up to Grade 12.

Parents must make a separate application for each eligible child — though secondary school students over the age of 18 can apply for themselves — but applications close on February 8, 2021.

Parents of children in elementary and secondary school can receive a one-time payment of $200 for each child they apply for.

Parents of children under the age of 21 with special needs can receive a one-time payment of $250.

Applications can be made through the Ontario government website, and the money can be received by either e-transfer or direct deposit.

The Ontario government says it will take approximately two weeks to receive your money, but some applications may take longer to "verify and process."
