Public Health is asking Air Canada passengers that travelled from Toronto to Deer Lake, Newfoundland last week to arrange for COVID-19 testing.

The advisory was published on October 23 asking those who were on flight 7484 on Monday, October 12 to call 811 and book an appointment.

The announcement is being made "out of an abundance of caution" after a new confirmed case in the Central Health region, which covers 176 communities, was announced on October 22.

Public Health is also asking people to monitor themselves for symptoms.

Things to look out for include fever, coughing, painful swallowing, loss of sense of smell, sore throat, small red or purple spots on your hands and feet, and others.

COVID-19 cases on flights continue to be reported in high numbers.

In fact, Toronto Pearson recorded over 50 cases passing through the airport in the past few weeks.

A project is being piloted to have COVID-19 testing available at the airport to passengers who choose to take it, but it only applies to international travellers so far.
