Peel Police Got Angry 911 Calls Complaining About Last Night's Amber Alert
It seems that some people have once again taken issue with Ontario's Amber Alert system.
Peel Police Constable Akhil Mooken told Narcity that 911 dispatchers received a number of angry calls complaining about last night's alert.
Constable Mooken said the callers tied-up emergency lines to give them a hard time, which he called "profoundly disappointing."

Several of the callers were extremely irate and were berating the [911 dispatchers], which is extremely uncalled for.

"These highly trained and skilled communicators are the lifeline for people that have emergencies," he continued.
"To tie up the 9-1-1 lines to complain is profoundly disappointing."
"Putting your phone on silent will ensure that that the alerts do not make the audible noise while sleeping," he added.
This issue is not new. Last year, Ontario residents dialed 911 to complain about an Amber Alert for five missing children.
Peel Police were also inundated with angry calls when 11-year-old Riya Rajkumar first went missing.
