It looks like Toronto won't be hosting the Raptors 2021 season after all.

The federal government denied the NBA franchise's request to play in Canada on Friday.

The decision comes after weeks of negotiations on the issue.

You know, I think I would make the most of wherever we go. What matters to me is where the players feel most comfortable. Nick Nurse

According to a news release from the Raptors, the team was forced to find a new home for the 2020-2021 season.

Several cities offered to host the team, including Kansas City and Louisville.

However, it was announced on Friday that the Raptors will play in Tampa Bay.

"So we'll be away from our home and fans for now," reads the statement.

"They say absence makes the heart grow founder. I'm not sure that's possible for us - we love Toronto and Canada."*

Despite the change in location, coach Nick Nurse has stated that it doesn't matter where they end up as long as the team feels comfortable.
