Even though house prices are going up around the 6ix, you can still find the GTA's cheapest neighbourhoods to settle down in.

The Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) published a report on January 6 breaking down the city's 2020 real estate trends, including a comprehensive list of how GTA neighbourhoods match up in price.

Despite a 13.5% increase in average selling prices in 2020, there are still some neighbourhoods for finding a bargain.

The TRREB reports that the cheapest areas in the GTA outside the city centre are in Durham region, York region, and Simcoe County.

Homes in Brock, Oshawa, Essa, and Georgina are at the bottom of the list, ranging from $560,000 to $635,000 a pop.

Inside the city, the area of Toronto East — ranging from the Pickering Townline to Steeles Avenue and the Don Valley Parkway — offers the cheapest city housing, with the median price of a 2020 house coming to $852,000.

Central Toronto — between Victoria Park Avenue and Dufferin Street — was the most expensive region, with the average house costing $1,066,379 in 2020.

The median prices include sales of all homes: detached houses, semi-detached houses, townhouses, and condos.
