An unexpected guest showed up at Toronto FC's practice on Monday and the encounter caused quite a scene.

The players, who are playing their home games in Orlando this season due to COVID-19 protocols, seemed unsure how to react at first — but as soon as the animal started moving across the field, they started screaming and running for dear life.

The team has been poking fun at the incident, with social media posts announcing the acquisition of the alligator as their newest player.

They were able to snap a few quick selfies with their honourary teammate before the gator made its exit.

This is a far cry from Toronto's usual wildlife scene made up of raccoons and fox families, so who can blame them for being a little terrified?
