Travelling in 2020 looks very different than it used to, but one Toronto hotel is leading the pack to adapt to the new normal.

In Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood, the Hazelton Hotel has been named one of the world's best when it comes to following health and safety guidelines.

Forbes Travel Guide and Sharecare — a digital health and wellness advisor — administered their "seal of approval" to the Hazelton and 28 other spots worldwide.

29 Number of hotels with the new health security verification

The 29 hotels are the first to be "Sharecare Health Security Verified," which means they follow a list of more than 360 health care protocols, including cleaning, hygiene, physical distancing, and communication from staff.

The Hazelton is the only spot from Canada mentioned on the list, including resorts and hotels in the U.S., Australia, Mexico, and Greece.

"By earning the VERIFIED badge, hotels now have a credible way to broadcast that they are following comprehensive, consistent procedures to heighten health security, certified by a third party," wrote Filip Boyen, Forbes Travel Guide's CEO, in a press release.

Hani Roustom, Managing Director for The Hazelton Hotel, told Narcity in an email that the verification means a lot to the company.

"It reassures our guests and colleagues that their health and safety is our foremost priority and they can enjoy their stay and experience without any worry," Roustom said.*
