A Toronto Mall Is Turning Into A Drive-In & You Can Watch Movies In The Parking Lot

Shopping and movie night all in one!
Lead Writer, Travel

Forget your shopping list and wallet, because the only things you'll want to bring to this mall outing are popcorn and cozy blankets. An outdoor movie theatre is popping up at one of Toronto's malls, and you can catch some flicks in the parking lot without leaving your car. Toronto's Sherway Gardens Drive-In is opening this week, so start those engines!

Your trip to the mall is going to be a little different this week.

Instead of indulging in new clothes, you can indulge in some films on the big screen.

CF Sherway Gardens has partnered with the City of Toronto and is turning its parking lot into a giant drive-in theatre.

The outdoor cinema will run three weekends in a row, starting on Thursday, July 30.

The attraction is part of the new Drive-InTO initiative, which brings pop-up theatres to locations across the city this summer.

The film line-up includes The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, The Hustle, The Wild Life, and Long Shot.

There will be two screenings a night, and tickets cost $10 per vehicle per movie. Spots are limited, so you're going to want to get yours ASAP.

Tickets are currently on sale, and you can purchase them by heading over to the Sherway Gardens website.

Earlier this month, CF Markville Mall hosted a drive-in pilot project in the parking lot.

Cadillac Fairview confirmed to Narcity that it hopes to host more parking lot theatres this summer.

Drive-ins have been making a comeback throughout the city, with a brand new venue opening up at Polson Pier.

Ontario Place has also transformed into a concert venue and drive-in theatre.

In September, you can watch a film while relaxing in a boat at a unique floating movie theatre coming to Toronto.

Leave your shopping bags and grab your popcorn bags for this cinematic mall adventure.
