Take a break from your coding, techies of Toronto, and pat yourselves on the back.

A recent report published by CBRE, a commercial real estate services and investment firm, suggests Toronto's tech industry is the best of its kind in Canada.

Not only does the city produce the second-most amount of tech grads in the country, but it's also adding more tech workers at an amazing rate.

$87,000 Average yearly salary for a tech worker in Toronto

According to CBRE, the city added 66,900 tech jobs in the last five years, more than any other city in Canada during that time span.

That's enough workers to fill First Canadian Place, Toronto's largest office building, four times over.

The report says that the 6ix has by far the largest number of tech workers out of any Canadian city (at around 250,000), and the average salary for one of those workers is $87,000 a year.

And apparently, those workers are good value for that money. Toronto gets an "A+" from CRBE for the quality you get for the labour cost of hiring a tech worker.

Companies have largely been fine throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, suggests the report, which says that Toronto's biggest tech companies (like Shopify, Google, and Amazon) are still making profits during the pandemic.

This might explain why there are so many great tech jobs still out there.

Both The Globe and Mail and eBay are hiring software engineers, too, and Google is looking to add a Data Centre Technician to their team.
