"Their search query asks for the user’s name and mobile phone number," states the public safety alert issued on January 6.

"Once a query is made, the user is contacted through a messaging app and the user is asked to provide identification and payment information."

The travel site promotes "special flights during Covid" that you can book 24/7.

The About Us page says that they "work with top suppliers" to ensure the best deals on vacations, accommodations and rentals.

Narcity has reached out to pandemictrip.com for their response and has not yet heard back.

"The Toronto Police is urging the public to be vigilant with their information when searching for deals online and to only use reputable companies when conducting these queries."

In September, Ontario Provincial Police issued an alert about fake online ads for rentals that preyed on people looking for a cottage getaway.
