John Tory Is Telling You Not To Get Married After Recent Surge In COVID-19 Cases
Love might be in the air, but John Tory is asking you to put it on hold. On Friday, the mayor stated that weddings in Toronto should be postponed for the time being. The call comes after Ontario has seen a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
On Friday morning, Tory stated that to help stop the spread of the disease, couples should either hold off on getting married or plan a smaller event.
"The best thing to do, as much as it comes as bad news… is just not to have them right now or to have something very tiny and have a big party later," Tory told CP24.

"Our medical officers of health have been very clear in saying these kinds of large events, where you get crowd scenes together involving people who don't live together, pose a risk," he added.
York Region Public Health confirmed earlier this month that 23 people had tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a vast GTA wedding.
CityNews also reported on Wednesday that four separate GTA weddings had caused an additional 22 cases.
Tory also attempted to denounce weddings this year by warning couples that their big day would be "dull" due to all the restrictions in place.
"No music, no dancing, no singing. I mean, it really isn't anything that would make for the best of weddings, so maybe people are best to just put them off for now," he concluded.
The Ontario government announced on Thursday that it would be reducing gathering limits in Toronto due to the second wave of COVID-19 cases.
Indoor gatherings were reduced to 10 people, and outdoor was restricted to just 25.
However, this does not include weddings that are being held at organized events.
Businesses such as movie theatres, gyms and restaurants are also excluded from this new gathering slash.
