With storybook streets, cute cafes and old-world shops, this destination is straight out of a cozy TV show.

Unionville is an old-world community located in Markham. According to Main Street Unionville, the village was founded in 1794, and many of the original buildings from the 1800s can still be seen today.

You don't need a car to reach this spot. GO Transit offers direct train trips from Toronto to Unionville, with fares starting at $7.78 per adult on weekends.

It's about a 20-minute walk from the station to the main street.

The destination is so charming that it was used as the fictional town of Stars Hollow in the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls.

Fans can embark on a self-guided Gilmore Girls tour, which will lead them to real filming locations from the beloved show, such as the gazebo.

No Stars Hollow-inspired day is complete without coffee, so you'll want to visit some of the cozy cafes like Behind The Alley or Espresso 21.

The main street is lined with enchanting boutiques and bakeries fit for Lorelai.

Other spots to check out in the area include Varley Art Gallery, Toogood Pond and Stiver Mill.
