Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has revealed that existing travel restrictions in Canada could become even stricter.

Speaking during a press conference on April 20, he confirmed that officials are considering how the rules could be updated to ensure that COVID-19 cases from abroad don’t come into Canada.

After Trudeau talked through Canada’s current travel restrictions, he added, “But of course, as I always say, we are continuing to look at more.”

“I have asked our officials to look carefully at, for example, what the U.K. has done very recently on suspending flights from India,” Trudeau revealed.

He went on to say that the feds are considering what more “can and should be done” to ensure that new COVID-19 cases in Canada are not coming from overseas and non-essential travel.
