A Huge Black Bear Took A Swipe At A Runner On A Popular BC Trail (VIDEO)

A runner in Coquitlam, B.C., has quite the intense encounter with a bear on Saturday, August 29. 

A video submitted by Sam Abdullah and published by CBC News shows the runner standing frozen as the bear swipes at her leg. She does manage to jog past the Coquitlam black bear eventually.

Abdullah said that he was yelling at the bear to distract it. He tried to catch up to the runner but she didn't stop running until she was out of the scene. 

B.C. Conservation Officers closed down the trail after the encounter, as per their tweet. Officer Murray Smith said that they will be launching efforts to capture this bear.

He said that it's "concerning" that the bear didn't seem afraid to strike the runner.
