Just a BC Ferries ride away from Vancouver is this dreamy little island, with crystal clear waters, rolling vineyards and sprawling fields of lavender. The slow pace, local galleries and beautiful farms make this place a go-to retreat for people in B.C., and a favourite destination for many.

Salt Spring Island was recently named by readers on the Narcity Facebook Page as one of the best islands to visit in the province.

It's not hard to see why people love this place. As the biggest of the Gulf Islands, there's lots do to on Salt Spring, but it maintains a tight-knit feel.

The main town here is Ganges, and where you'll find tasty eats, cute shops, and a quaint waterfront to walk along.

Driving around the island is a must though, stopping in at the local galleries, farms, and enjoying the stunning scenery. Along the way you'll pass by the farm stands on the side of the road where you can buy local goodies to take home.

Another must-stop is Lavender & Black, a beautiful lavender farm here where you can wander through fields of purple and relax.

After a day exploring the island you can sit back at Beddis Beach, where you'll find clear water to dive into.

This little island packs a lot in, and it's only a one hour and 30 minute ferry ride away from Vancouver. Time to explore this summer!
