Premier John Horgan has announced that vaccine passports for B.C. will be starting on September 13.

"The Delta variant and an increase in cases, largely within the unvaccinated population had led us to pause and reflect on what steps, what measures, can we take through public health and through other initiatives to protect British Columbians," said the premier via video conference on Monday, August 23.

Earlier this month, the Government of Canada announced Canadians will be given vaccine passports in the fall of 2021 as proof of their vaccination status for international travel.

Monday's announcement comes as COVID-19 cases in B.C. continue to climb, with health officials reporting 663 new cases on Friday.
