Vancouver's Michelin Guide 2024 was released on October 3, and some of the best restaurants in the city were recognized.

The Vancouver Michelin Guide had four new additions for the year, and they range from low-key spots tucked away in corners of the city to beloved neighbourhood go-tos.

If you want to taste some of the best Vancouver has to offer in terms of food, try out these four restaurants that just earned a spot in the 2024 Michelin Guide.

Sushi Masuda – One Star

This unassuming spot is located in a print shop's spare room, and Michelin said it's a reminder "not to judge a book by its cover."

It might be relatively plain on first look, but the food is anything but. Chef Yoji Masuda and his wife Akari make the guest experience here uniquely beautiful, and it's clear why this place earned the coveted Star.

The guide highlighted the savoury "pudding," monkfish liver, beltfish and nigiri dishes here.

Gary's - Bib Gourmand

The co-owner and Operations Manager at this neighbourhood spot, Bailey Hayward, was awarded the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Vancouver Outstanding Service Award, marking this as even more of a must-try in the city. The chef at Gary's, Chef Mathew Bishop, is Hayward's partner and together they've grown the business from a supper club at their house for their friends, to now a Michelin-recognized place.

The Bib Gourmand category of the guide is reserved for good value restaurants, that balance the prices with good quality.

The guide describes this spot as "rustic and approachable, offering hearty dishes that draw inspiration from French country cooking."

It's the perfect place to cozy up at and fill your belly, especially with a menu that includes the likes of saffron rouille and freshly baked rolls.

Bravo

While Michelin is known for its globally renowned star system (three being the highest and therefore the most coveted), there are the other categories where restaurants can get a nod. Being in the Recommended section means that the restaurant simply has good food with quality ingredients.

While it's not quite at the Bib or Star level, it's still high-praise and a big recognition nonetheless.

Bravo is one the the Vancouver spots to earn it's place on the list this year. It's a popular spot known for it's warm environment and seafood-filled menu. The guide also highlighted the "thoughtful" bar here, making it th perfect place to have a drink, and maybe some oysters, with friends.

Zab Bite

With a focus on northeastern Thailand cuisine, this restaurant offers up a fun vibe with delicious food.

The guide highlighted dishes — like their boat noodles, which feature "funky, aromatic beef broth loaded with bouncy meatballs and tripe" — that will have you running to book a reservation.

If you're up for some spice you won't be disappointed here either.
