On train service attendant

Salary: $27.45 an hour

Company: VIA Rail

Location: Toronto, ON

Who Should Apply: You must have a high school diploma and at least one year of customer service experience.

Also, you need to be able to communicate in English and French.

It's required that you're physically able to repetitively handle items weighing up to 50 pounds, which is the equivalent of a large suitcase.

You must be available to work variable schedules on call, including weekends and holidays.

Since this is an on-train job, you have to be able to travel away from home for one to three days per trip.

You could work on routes including Toronto-Windsor, Toronto-Niagara, and Toronto-Montreal with this position.

Who Should Apply: You need a college diploma in electrical engineering, specializing in electrotechnics, automation or industrial electricity to get hired.

Also, you must have:

  • knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and workplace electrical safety standards
  • five years of experience as an industrial electrician
  • knowledge of AutoCAD software
  • familiarity with programmable logic controllers, instrumentation and control, and Human-Machine Interfaces
  • understanding of basic electrical concepts, with the ability to read single-line and multi-line diagrams

You also need experience in:

  • designing, analyzing, and modifying electrical circuits or systems
  • preparing required documents for production (including bill of materials, electrical diagrams, technical specifications, and maintenance procedures)
  • electrical (power) controls, electronic controls, and communication systems

Proficiency in AutoCAD computer-aided design software and Microsoft Office is needed for this job.
