On Wednesday, June 16, Dr. Bonnie Henry updated the public on COVID-19 in B.C. The top doctor shared that there had only been 113 new cases of COVID-19 reported over the past 24 hours.

She continued to announce that "76.3% of all adults in B.C. and 74.6% of those 12 and older have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine."

With those high vaccination rates, Henry was pleased to say that "British Columbia has some of the highest levels of immunization for Dose 1 in the world – something we can be incredibly proud of – and we have the ability to push that even higher."

B.C.'s reopening plan is directly linked to vaccination uptake. "Vaccines are the pathway for us to safely travel and resume our important social connections," said Henry

According to the Government of Canada's data, which was updated on June 11, about 70% of the Canadian population ages 12 and older has received at least one vaccine dose.
