'It’s Bizarre & Dangerous' William Shatner Just Threw Serious Shade At Alberta On Twitter

Can you guess what it's about?

Alberta has yet to get on board with the national COVID-19 contact tracing app and it has not gone unnoticed. Justin Trudeau has mentioned it more than once and now William Shatner has even chimed in.

The actor, known to many as Captian Krik in Start Trek, took to Twitter to encourage Canadians to download the COVIDAlert app.

Health Canada responded, thanking the celebrity for spreading the word and quoting his character "As Captain Kirk once said, one way to survive is through mutual trust and help," they wrote. Shatner responded, throwing some serious shade at Alberta.

Now you just need to get Alberta on board I’ve heard that certain people have an issue with the app because they have their own app. William Shatner

"I guess if you block off Alberta there app may work but people do travel," he continued

He called the fact that Albertans aren't able to use the app "Bizarre & dangerous" before concluding with "What do I know? I’m just an actor."

During a public address on November 20, Canada's premier begged Albertans to download the app even though Jason Kenney hasn't yet made it available to the province.

"It’s an extra tool we have at a time where we need to be using all the tools we have," said Trudeau

Maybe Shatner's cheeky post will be the final push Alberta needs to spring for the national app in place of the provincial one.
