Temperatures could also be 10 to 20 degrees higher than normal.

Canada's westernmost territory is in for some messy weather, as a Yukon snow storm is set to be followed by rain.

Environment Canada warns that the area of Haines Road, specifically Haines Junction to Pleasant Camp, is set to see anywhere from 40 to 50 centimetres of snow during the day.

That would be bad enough on its own, but this wintery mess will also be followed by up to 70 millimetres of rain through to Wednesday night.

50 cm Of potential snowfall

This wet weather will be caused in part by wind gusts coming up from the southeast, which could reach up to 70 km/h.

These will likely raise the temperature anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius above normal for the season.

Environment Canada warns residents to be prepared for any rapidly changing or deteriorating travel conditions.

Yukon is not the only place in the country already experiencing wild winter weather.

Labrador was recently slammed with a storm that dropped over 50 centimetres of snow in some areas.
