In a new statement about AstraZeneca reactions reported in Europe, Health Canada is reassuring residents that the vaccine is still safe.

The agency says the European Medicines Agency has informed them about an investigation into blood clots occurring post-vaccination in some countries.

While the investigation has prompted many countries in the continent to temporarily pause administrating AstraZeneca doses, Health Canada says none of the batches of the vaccine under review were shipped to Canada and maintains its safety.

"At this time, there is no indication that the vaccine caused these events," the statement read. "To date, no adverse events related to the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, or the version manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, have been reported to Health Canada or the Public Health Agency of Canada."

The agency also said they want to reassure Canadians that "the benefits of the vaccine continue to outweigh its risks."
