Numbers are still climbing in British Columbia. On Monday, November 30, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health, Adrian Dix delivered a B.C. COVID-19 update

During the address, Henry notified the public that there were 46 new COVID-19 deaths over the weekend. She also reported 2,354 new cases.

That's the highest-ever death toll in that time preiod, said Henry. There were 15 deaths recorded on Friday, 17 on Saturday, and 14 on Sunday, Minister Dix explained. The previous daily record was 13.

Dix said that 35 of the deaths were in the Fraser Health Region and 11 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region.

When announcing the total number of deaths, Bonnie Henry paid a tribute to the individuals who passed away and those they have left behind. "We all feel your loss and we mourn with you," she said.

She said that most of the people who died over the weekend were residents of long-term care units, one of whom was 103 years old.

"These people have faces, have names, have stories. This tragedy is all of our tragedy," said Henry.

The health official said we are facing a "storm surge" and that "we need to come together again."
