If you're dreaming about escaping the hustle and bustle of the city, this tranquil town offers a slower-paced lifestyle with quiet streets and cozy shops.

Narcity readers shared Canada's best small towns to live in, and this quaint destination was one of the places mentioned.

Huntsville is a picturesque town in Muskoka, about 2.5 hours from Toronto.

Situated between Arrowhead Provincial Park and Algonquin Provincial Park, Huntsville is the largest community in the Muskoka area and is known as "the adventure capital of Ontario," according to Destination Ontario.

The town offers an abundance of activities to enjoy, including hiking, cycling, snowshoeing, and paddling.

You can explore Arrowhead Provincial Park, located just 10 minutes from the town, where you'll find lush forests, beaches and trails. During the fall, Lion's Lookout, situated in Huntsville, offers stunning views of the colours below.

The downtown area is lined with a range of local boutiques, from clothing stores to home decor and chocolate shops. Cozy cafes, scenic patios and quaint restaurants are dotted along the streets, making it the perfect place to slow down and soak in the charm.

Some of the top things to enjoy in the area include stepping back in time at Muskoka Heritage Place, wandering through Limberlost Forest, checking out the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery and visiting Sugarbush Hill Maple Farm.

There are numerous events to enjoy throughout the year, including outdoor movies and a harvest feast.

According to the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce, Huntsville is "one of Ontario's most beloved four-season destinations" and "provides limitless opportunities for anyone who wants to enjoy life here 365 days a year."

So, how do housing prices here stack up against Toronto? According to Zolo, the average house price in Huntsville for July 2025 is $805,065, which is significantly less than Toronto's average of $1,092,535.
