One of Canada's 'most beautiful' destinations is an Ontario gem with quaint towns and beaches

It's known as the "Hamptons of the North."

Lead Writer, Travel

You don't need to leave Ontario to enjoy one of Canada's most stunning destinations. This dreamy region with sparkling lakes and charming villages is one of the prettiest spots the country has to offer.

On Narcity Canada's Facebook page, we asked readers to share the most beautiful destinations they've ever been to in the country, and this Ontario spot was one of the places mentioned.

Muskoka is a scenic region known for its vacay vibes, natural beauty and stunning lakes.

It's been dubbed the "Hamptons of the North" due to its glistening waters, cottages, and big-name stars who vacation there.

Located around 2 hours from Toronto, the region boasts resorts, quaint towns, rugged shorelines, beaches and beautiful parks.

You can spend your getaway exploring some of its scenic small towns, such as Bracebridge, Huntsville, Gravenhurst, Bala and Port Carling.

These spots offer cozy streets, local shops and waterside charm.

Muskoka is renowned for its beauty, so you'll definitely want to spend some time outdoors. Arrowhead Provincial Park is one of the top places to explore, offering gorgeous trails, lush forests, sandy beaches, and vibrant fall colours.

You can also visit Hardy Lake Provincial Park, which has scenic boardwalk trails and hidden swimming spots.

Bring your bathing suit, because Muskoka is home to "over 30 public beaches situated on some of Ontario's most beautiful lakeside locations," according to its website.

From small-town gems to island shorelines, there are so many places to take a dip.

Other attractions in Muskoka include Santa's Village, Muskoka Cruises, and Muskoka Lakes Museum.

With its rugged beauty, quaint towns and scenic parks, it's no surprise locals call Muskoka one of Canada's most beautiful destinations.
