You don't have to leave Ontario to find shimmering turquoise waters, charming coastal towns, and breathtaking natural wonders. This getaway spot offers all this and more, and some even say it rivals a trip to the U.S.

When we asked Narcity Canada readers to share Ontario destinations they think are better than a U.S. vacation, they recommended this picturesque spot with vibrant beaches and quaint villages.

The Bruce Peninsula is a breathtaking destination that separates Georgian Bay from the main section of Lake Huron. The region boasts an array of charming coastal towns, crystal-clear beaches, and majestic natural wonders that will transport you to another land.

You can find some beautiful small towns scattered throughout the region. One of the highlights is Tobermory — a cozy harbour town with glassy waters and quaint shops that will transport you to the East Coast.

You can also explore Sauble Beach, a retro beach town with cafes, attractions, motels, and more. The destination is known for its 11-kilometre white sand beach, which is said to be the "best" freshwater beach in Canada.

The region offers some incredible adventures to enjoy. You can cruise over ancient shipwrecks or even snorkel your way down to these sunken vessels. There's also the beautiful Bruce Peninsula National Park, where you'll find a rugged limestone coast, stunning beaches and the Grotto — an ancient seacave with a pool of turquoise water.

Flowerpot Island is another unique spot to visit. Accessible by boat, the island boasts unusual rock formations, crystal-clear waters, picturesque hikes, and more.

For more hiking opportunities, you can travel to Lion's Head, where you'll find a breathtaking lookout over the vibrant waters of Georgian Bay.

With its tropical-looking waters, dreamy coastal villages, and rugged beauty, readers say the Bruce Peninsula is worth skipping the U.S. for.
