Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, this small town is slow-paced, without the crowds of its neighbouring communities, and home to some of the most jaw-dropping views you can imagine.

Canmore was given a shout-out in Country Living's list of "42 Ever-So-Charming Canadian Towns You'll Wish You Had Known About Sooner." The list highlighted some of "the best small towns, villages, and smaller cities," and Canmore fit the bill.

While the nearby town of Banff often gets the most praise, Canmore is a more low-key getaway that's still surrounded by the signature beauty of the area.

The old architecture gives the village a certain charm, and lining the picturesque streets you'll find everything from cozy bookstores to cool boutique shops. Main Street here is home to what's been dubbed one of "Canada's dreamiest bookstore," Cafe Books. The eclectic little shop will make you never want to leave.

While it might be tempting to spend an entire trip roaming around town, the real intrigue lies in the activities all around. Winter here means skiing, dog-sledding, or even going for a horse-drawn sleigh ride at the nearby Boundary Ranch.

Summer's here are all about hiking, whitewater rafter, diving into sparkling lakes, and mountain biking. Grassi Lakes Trail is a popular hike all year round, giving you unparalleled mountain views and bright turquoise water.

It's an year-round destination for thrill seekers, but also offers up wellness experiences to balance out the fun. Bodhi Wellness is here and you can soak in the mountain views from the hot tubs.

This little town packs a big punch, and a trip there is one filled with beauty, charm, and lots to do.
