If you're on the hunt for new treats to try out, several fast food chains in Canada have debuted new menu items to tempt your tastebuds and a few restaurants have brought back some fan-favourite menu options.

Whether you're looking for a shake, a delicious burger or something a little lighter, we've rounded up some of the new and returning food items from Subway, Mary Brown's, Arby's, Tim Hortons and Wendy's so you can check out which items you'll want to try out for yourself.

Subway

With the help of Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes and Chris Boucher, Subway Canada recently debuted the new Jerk-Spiced Chicken Rice Bowl and Jerk-Spiced Steak Rice Bowl which were inspired by both players’ Caribbean heritage, according to a press release.

The chicken bowl has some of Barnes' favourite ingredients, like banana peppers and rotisserie-style chicken, while Boucher's option has his favourite flavour pairing: steak and cheese.

"Both will combine a cool, crunchy hit of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and crispy onions for unparalleled flavour and topped with a hit of jerk aioli."

Yum!

Mary Brown's

If you're in the mood for a chicken sandy that's a bit on the lighter side, Mary Brown's has a new offering that sounds all kinds of tempting, particularly if being a little more mindful about what you're eating is on your radar.

"As many Canadians look to adopt healthy habits in the new year, Mary Brown’s is also unveiling the NEW Southwest Grilled Chicken Sandwich," the company said by email.

"With juicy, tender chicken breast fillet, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato slices, red onions, and new Ancho Chipotle Sauce on a warm brioche bun, this tasty new menu item is the perfect healthier alternative to Mary Brown’s iconic fried chicken sandwiches."

Arby's Triple Cheese RB-BLT, Butterscotch Shake, Potato Cakes and Cherry Turnovers

Arby's is hitting Canadians with a bit of new and old.

For new menu items, you can now grab a Triple Cheese RB-BLT (roast beef with bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich, "beefed up and baconed out," as well as Butterscotch Shake, both of which are available for a limited time.

For old, they're bringing back their Cherry Turnovers (2 for $2.39) and Potato Cakes (2 for $3.99).

A bit of sweet, a bit of savoury — something for everyone!

Tim Hortons' Omelette Bites

Tim Hortons also has a new menu item back for those who want a quick hit of protein in the morning with the return of their Omelette Bites in two flavours: Bacon and Cheese or Spinach and Egg White.

"Two Spinach and Egg White Omelette Bites have 13 grams of protein and contain 130 calories while two Bacon and Cheese Omelette Bites have 15 grams of protein and contain 210 calories," says Timmies.

Make sure you pick up one of their returning Retro Donuts while you're at it!

Wendy's

And lastly, if you've been craving for the Bacon Portabella Mushroom Melt, you can now satisfy it since the burger is back at Wendy's.

"The Bacon Portabella Mushroom Melt a.k.a the BPMM a.k.a the best burger in every universe is back for a limited time," says the company. "It’s got your favourite cheesy sauce, dunked on Portabella mushrooms, three strips of Applewood Smoked Bacon and fresh, never frozen Canadian beef. What more can we say? It’s the BPMM Meltyverse and we’re just living it in."

These prices are confirmed at the time of publishing, but they can change at any time. Taxes and fees may not be included.
