Canada's new coin features a zodiac chart that circles the sun, moon and stars!

The Royal Canadian Mint just revealed this $30 coin inspired by classical Greek sculpture so you can "discover the mysterious allure of the zodiac."

This new $30 Fine Silver Coin – Signs of the Zodiac is a 99.99% pure silver coin with selective colour to showcase the purple, blue, pink, red and yellow hues of the cosmos.

The Royal Canadian Mint shared that stargazers of ancient Greece referred to the zodiac as zōdiakos kyklos, which means the "circle of animals," and that's exactly what you see on this coin.

Sculpted in pure silver, the new Canadian coin features three outer bands surrounding an inner core with "touches of celestial colours."

It's a two-ounce 99.99% pure silver non-circulation coin that takes a sculptural approach to represent the 12 zodiacs, from Aries the Ram to Pisces the Fish.

The reverse of this coin was designed by artist Steve Hepburn and features an engraved celestial illustration of the sun and moon — enhanced with selective colour — surrounded by the 12 signs of the zodiac.

Figures representing each sign on the outer band are inspired by classical Greek sculpture and paired with corresponding glyphs in the second band that's set against a colourful starry night sky.

All of the sculptures and glyphs are numbered based on their zodiacal order, starting at the top with Aries and then moving in a counterclockwise direction all the way to Pisces.

The obverse — which is the "head" side of the coin — features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in front of a star map.

Also, there's a special marking that includes four pearls to symbolize the four effigies of the queen that were on Canadian coins during her reign as monarch.

According to the Royal Canadian Mint, this is expected to be a popular coin issue as other coins with the celestial theme "sold out quickly."

If you want this zodiac coin, you'll have to pay quite a bit of money.

It costs $229.95 when buying through the Royal Canadian Mint!

There is a low mintage for the $30 Fine Silver Coin – Signs of the Zodiac and only 4,000 coins have been made.
