Canada Isn't Considered A Top 20 Country When It Comes To 'Reopening ...
Canada is lagging behind the rest of the world when it comes to its reopening progress, according to a new global ranking.
The latest Bloomberg COVID-19 Resilience Ranking examines how countries around the world are beginning to return to normal. It considers factors like lockdown severity, flight capacity, open and available travel routes and the number of people vaccinated.
"Almost a year and a half into the pandemic, the best and worst places to be in the Covid-19 era are increasingly defined by one thing: normalization," reads the report.
At the top of the reopening progress ranking is the United States, scoring high marks for its COVID-19 vaccination rates and available travel routes.
New Zealand isn't too far behind, scoring just 22 out of a possible 100 when it comes to its lockdown severity.
Canada places 24th out of 53, behind countries like France, the U.K., Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Japan and more.
While it places above many other regions when it comes to the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19, it scores 77 out of 100 for its lockdown severity. Canada also has a pretty poor score (-77.7%) when it comes to flight capacity. Yikes!
