Some Canadian Tire money actually goes for big bucks these days, but a recent find on Reddit showing 15 cents worth of the currency appearing to sell for $39.99 at Salvation Army has people scratching their heads.

On the Reddit forum r/ThriftGrift, a user uploaded a picture of the item which is dated February 17, 2024, and inexplicably filed under the category of "Housewares."

"15c worth of Canadian Tire money..." wrote the person who uploaded the post. "As far as I can tell, it's not collectable at all."

In the comments, many ragged on the alleged deal.

"I have a stack of these bad boys, turns out I’m a millionaire and didn’t even know it," wrote one person.

"Once saw a 20 peso note at the thrift that they were selling for $14.99 as Rare foreign currency," said another of a similar find.

Someone mentioned that the store likely looked up the prices of what some of the rare Canadian Tire bills sell for online and used that information to assign a price to the 15 cents.

"The ones that sell for $1000+ are the rare 100th anniversary $100 bills that were hidden in different locations for one week only in September 2022," shared one user. "There were only 95 of them ever printed and I don’t know if they were all claimed or not. There are some other rare ones (mainly from the first series I think) that sell for ≈$100. Even the ones in this picture are collectable, but they’re worth ≈$1, not $40."

It all comes down to what it's personally worth to you, it seems!
