It’s getting cold in Canada! Right now, so many of the top 15 coldest places on Earth are in this country and conditions in some spots have dropped to as low as -40 C.

On the morning of December 16, WXNow posted a weather report sharing the locations of the most bone-chilling spots in the world.

While it’s perhaps unsurprising that Canada made the list, it’s pretty shocking to learn how many Canuck spots topped the chart!

It was Yakutsk in Russia that claimed the top spot, recording eye-watering temperatures of -48 C at around 10 p.m. local time.

However, in second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth place were various regions across the country, including Yellowknife where it is currently -40 C.

It’s not too much warmer in Shepherd Bay, where it’s -39 C, and in Lac La Martre where it’s -37.2 C.

Although a couple of Alaskan spots are in the middle of the list, there’s even more places in the Canadian territories that round it off.

This includes Cambridge Bay in ninth place and Chibougamau-Chapais in tenth place, both at -36 C.

The remaining five regions on the list are scattered throughout Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, with the “warmest” town on the list recording temperatures of just -35 C. Eek!
