Did you know that Costco offers an average pay of more than $29 an hour and cashiers can even make over $70,00 a year?

There are so many Costco jobs available in Canada that you can apply for if you're looking for work.

With high starting and average wages, you could make quite a lot of money by working with the wholesale retailer.

These are Costco jobs in warehouses and business centres hiring for across the country.

You can find positions in the retailer's food departments, including Cake Decorator, Baker, Bakery Wrapper, Food Service Assistant — Food Court, Meat Assistant, Meat Cutter, and Service Deli Clerk.

If you want a job that has you helping customers, Costco hires Cashier Assistants, Electronics/Majors Sales Assistants, and Member Service Assistants as well.

Behind-the-scenes positions include Order Picker, Sorter, Stocker, Forklift/Power Equipment Operator, Inventory Auditor, Loss Prevention Clerk, Router, Stockroom Assistant, Finalizer, Maintenance Assistant, and Sanitation Clerk.

There are also on-the-road jobs like Marketing Road Representative, Delivery Driver and Truck Driver.

Since many Costco locations in Canada also have gas stations, tire service centres, pharmacies, and optical and hearing departments, you can find jobs in those specialized areas too.

Positions include:

  • Gas Station Attendant
  • Certified Pharmacy Clerk, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Assistant, and Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Optician / Contact Lens Practitioner (Licensed)
  • Hearing Instrument Practitioner (Licensed) and Audiologist (Licensed)
  • Tire Centre Sales Assistant and Tire Installer

Most Costco jobs in warehouses and business centres don't require a university degree.

In fact, a high school diploma or GED isn't even required — the wholesaler just prefers that you have it.

That might make you wonder, "How much do Costco employees make?"

In 2023, Pierre Riel — executive vice president and chief operating officer of Costco Wholesale International — shared what salaries are for Costco Canada workers.

"Our starting hourly wage is $17.50," Riel said. "This is above minimum wage in the provinces where we operate and it is regularly reevaluated."

Also, the Costco executive revealed that the average hourly wage was $27.63 in 2019 but had gone up to $29.76 an hour in 2023.

The wholesale retailer believes that's one of "the highest retail wages in Canada."

"To give you an idea of what that means for annual wages, a cashier who has worked full-time for Costco for six years earns over $70,000 annually," Riel said.

If you're thinking of applying for any of these positions, you might not just be wondering about wages but also what Costco's employee benefits and job perks are in Canada.

There are quite a few perks available to workers, including a free membership, first access to new products, a scholarship program for post-secondary education, and more!
