Justin Trudeau Says Alberta’s COVID-19 Cases Are ‘Rising Alarmingly’ & He’s Going To Help

On Friday, December 4, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the public. Within seconds of emerging from his home, he spoke to the rapidly rising COVID-19 case numbers in Alberta. 

“We’re headed into the first weekend of December, and in many parts of the country, the situation is very serious," the PM began

He said that the health minister has spoken to her counterparts across the country and assured them that “the federal government will offer all support needed,” he said.

“Especially in Alberta, where the numbers are rising alarmingly” he continued.

17,743 Active cases in Alberta 

He said that the federal minister had a conversation with Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro earlier this week.

“We will do whatever is necessary to help all provinces and territories deal with these outbreaks and get this situation under control.

Alberta reported a record-high 1,854 new cases on December 2. 

At present, 8,331 of the province's active cases are in the Edmonton Zone and 6,445 are in the Calgary Zone. 

The province is currently under temporary measures with hopes to slow the spread.
