On Monday, June 14, Jason Kenney shared information about Alberta's COVID-19 vaccination lottery program which is aimed at increasing vaccine uptake in the province.

The premier said Alberta needs to have 70% of the eligible population vaccinated with at least one dose "no later than this coming Thursday, June 17."

The province needs to meet this threshold in order to move to the third and final stage of reopening which is currently slated to take place in late June or early July.

"The clock is ticking," Kenney noted, adding that Alberta is "48,361 first dose appointments away from reaching that goal."

The province introduced the lottery program to encourage more people to book vaccination appointments. One Albertan who has at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose will win $1 million — winner will be announced when Stage 3 begins.
