On Monday, June 14, Premier Jason Kenney shared details about Alberta's COVID-19 vaccine lottery program. The "Open For Summer Lottery" intends to drum up more vaccination uptake in the province by offering the chance to win three separate prizes of $1 million.

The winner of the first prize will be announced when stage three of Alberta's reopening plan begins. Anyone who has had one COVID-19 vaccine dose is eligible to enter the first draw as long as they are 18 years or older.

Alberta needs 70% of the population to have received a first vaccine dose by Thursday, June 17 to stay on track with the reopening plan, said Kenney. The province is just shy of that milestone right now.

If you qualify for the first draw, all you need to do is visit the web page and enter your information to throw your name in the hat.

The next two lotteries will require you to have both doses in order to be entered. The winners of those will be announced in August and September, respectively.

"Now your vaccine shot is also your shot and becoming a millionaire," said Jason Kenney.
