'Tis the season of giving! The new Tim Hortons gift feature lets you send free coffee and baked goods to people by trading in your rewards points.

On December 2, the coffee chain announced that registered Tims Rewards members can now use their points to gift menu items through Tims It Forward.

It's available through the app or website and all you need to know about the person you're sending a treat to is their email address

new Tims It Forward feature begins

You can send a classic donut or cookie for 50 points, brewed coffee, tea or premium baked good for 70 points, hot chocolate, french vanilla or iced coffee for 100 points and a frozen or espresso-based beverage or 10-pack of Timbits for 140 points.

When you send a Tims gift, the person can accept it through email and then activate it by signing into their Tims Rewards account in the app or on the website.

If someone isn't a rewards member, they can still get a free treat by redeeming it with a QR code sent to their email.

For anyone getting a gift, it has to be activated within six months of being sent and then used within two weeks.

This new feature isn't just for the holidays, it'll be available all year long.

Though if you're looking to get into the festive spirit, the holiday menu at Tims is available now.
