Some good news! For over a year now, Alex Trebek's cancer battle has completely changed the Sudbury-born star's life. The Jeopardy! host recently gave an update on his health, and says that his treatments are "paying off."

Since he was first diagnosed in 2019, Trebek has been keeping fans in the loop with his ongoing battle.

In his latest update, the 79-year-old appeared to be in good spirits and even joked about the facial hair he's been growing while in quarantine.

Trebek also revealed that he's hoping to return to work on Jeopardy! as soon as possible. Earlier this year, a representative for the show shared that Trebek is pushing for the game show to be one of the first back in production.

As far as his health goes, the Canadian says that his numbers are good and that he's feeling great.

"I’m doing well, I’ve been continuing my treatment and it is paying off, although it does fatigue me a great deal."

Although Jeopardy! production has come to a halt in recent months, Trebek has been resuming his hosting duties from home.

"In the meantime, I’m here at home recording show openings for some very special Jeopardy! episodes that will be coming up in July," he said.

"For the first time ever, we’re going to open the Jeopardy! vaults and take another look at some of our favourite episodes."

Trebek also shared that he's been working on a book that will be coming out this month, on July 21.

As if all this big news wasn't enough, the TV personality has one more thing to look forward to in the coming weeks.

On July 22, Trebek will be celebrating his milestone 80th birthday.

It remains unclear exactly when the show will begin filming again, but the Canadian shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
