It was a bright and sunny day in Toronto today, but it got a whole lot brighter for an incredible split second.

At around noon, reports of a Toronto meteor began to flood in from Ontarians on Reddit and Twitter who wondered if anyone else had seen a huge meteor or an incredibly bright flash.

And as it turns out, one of the cameras on top of the CN Tower did catch the light show.

In the video from EarthCam, a company with live feed cameras all over the world, you can see an incredibly bright flash engulf Toronto's downtown.

It lights up the city in the blink of an eye, and then it disappears just as quickly.

Almost 100 people have reported the meteor on the American Meteor Society's website, having seen it in Ontario and as far away as Richmond, Virginia, in the States.

And according to Dr. Denis Vida, a postdoctoral associate with the University of Western Ontario who spoke to CTV News today, the light is likely due to a basketball-sized meteor that entered Earth's atmosphere today.
