Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being honored in Tampa, Florida, ahead of Super Bowl weekend for his social justice activism.

Kaepernick last December partnered with Ben and Jerry's to put out a new honorary ice cream flavor, “Change the Whirled,” and now they're doing even more to raise awareness about police violence and systemic racism against minorities.

Multiple billboards showing Kaepernick's partnership with Ben and Jerry's were posted up all around the city of Tampa, where the Super Bowl is being held this Sunday.

The ice cream brand also partnered with one of Kaepernick's friends, Brandan “Bmike" Odums, to help paint a mural in Old West Tampa featuring references to Kaepernick's "Know Your Rights" camp.

"I'm honored to partner with Ben & Jerry's on Change the Whirled," said Kaepernick. "Their commitment to challenging the anti-Black roots of policing in the United States demonstrates a material concern for the wellbeing of Black and Brown communities. My hope is that this partnership will amplify calls to defund and abolish the police and to invest in futures that can make us safer, healthier, and truly free."
