With the most wonderful time of the year almost upon us, FedEx Canada shipping for the holidays might take a bit longer than usual so Canadians are being asked to shop early.

FedEx said that there are "record-breaking shipping levels" now, along with a shorter window for shipping to make sure that packages arrive before the holidays.

This year, we will see an unprecedented reliance on our entire network over the next two months. Lisa Lisson

Canadians are being urged to shop and send their own packages early this year so that their holiday gifts arrive on time.

If you're sending presents to loved ones in Canada or other parts of the world, there are deadlines to make sure that happens.

Lisa Lisson, president of FedEx Express Canada, said that November and December are being called "The Shipathon" because people will be relying on delivery.

More than 2,500 employees have been added in Canada since the summer to keep up with the increased demand.

A survey done on behalf of FedEx Express Canada shows that 35% of Canadians who said they have never shopped online for holiday gifts will do so this year.

Also, 45% of people said that, because holiday travel is still up in the air, they plan to ship their holiday gifts to loved ones.

Canada Post has also asked Canadians to shop early to avoid delays and disappointment.
