Netflix's Brand New Game Show Is Unlike Anything You've Seen Before

Netflix is at it again! Over the past few years, the streaming service has dived into the world of reality TV, producing content for users that generates tons of buzz. Their latest project, Floor is Lava is unlike anything you’ve seen before.

In the recently released trailer for the new series, viewers can see teams compete against one another as they race through a challenging obstacle course in hopes of taking home $10,000.

This may sound like several other game shows out there, but don’t be fooled — there’s a major catch.

The ground surrounding the courses is made up of “lava”, and if contestants fall in, they’re out.

“It’s the hottest game show in history,” the trailer jokes.

If teams are capable of making it from the entrance to the exit without falling in, they earn a point. The team with the most points at the end of each episode takes home the coveted cash prize.

“The obstacle course is colossal, the leaps are epic, and you really want to stick your landings because the floor is lava,” the trailer continues.

The video clip shows plenty of slips along the way, and even includes spiders, nets, and other tactics to derail contestants from making it to the end.

“Teams compete to navigate rooms flooded with lava by leaping from chairs, hanging from curtains and swinging from chandeliers. Yes, really,” the caption reads.

The series is hosted by none other than Rutledge Wood, who’s known for his work on Top Gear, Lost in Transmission, and Southern and Hungry.

Netflix is no stranger to the world of reality TV. Earlier this year they released The Circle, a game show where contestants create online profiles without really meeting. The player who establishes the highest social standing wins.

The streamer has also dipped its toes into the world of reality dating shows, with content like Love Is Blind, Dating Around, and Too Hot to Handle all making waves around the world.

Several of the shows have received so much love that they’ve been renewed for more seasons on Netflix.

Tons of other new releases will be hitting the streaming service this month, including Feel the Beat, as well as new seasons of Dark and The Politician.

Floor is Lava is set to premiere on June 19. You can check out the hilarious trailer below.
