Even though the price tag is higher, a lot of products are actually cheaper at the wholesale retailer than at Dollarama!

That's because you can save by buying in bulk at Costco and get more bang for your buck.

Whether you're shopping for just yourself or for the whole family, knowing the price breakdown for how much of an item you get can help you buy cheap groceries.

So, here are 12 products that are cheaper at Costco Canada stores than at Dollarama.

Honey Nut Cheerios

That breaks down to a price of just $0.66 per 100 grams.

Dollarama has boxes of Cheerios but in smaller sizes.

It costs $2.75 for a 292-gram box of Cheerios at Dollarama, which works out to $0.94 per 100 grams.

Kraft Dinner

Costco has a huge pack of Kraft Dinner so you can stock up on the Canadian classic.

It costs $15.99 for a pack of 12 340-gram boxes of Kraft Dinner at the wholesale retailer.

That breaks down to $1.33 per box and $0.39 per 100 grams.

You can get a 200-gram box of Kraft Dinner for $1.50 at Dollarama.

That works out to a cost of $0.75 per 100 grams.

If you were to buy the same amount of boxes from Dollarama that you get with the pack at Costco, it'd be $18.

Not to mention, you would also be getting less Kraft Dinner in each box because the Costco boxes are almost twice as big!

That price breaks down to just $0.04 per tea bag and $1.42 per 100 grams.

You can get a 113-gram box of Tetley orange pekoe tea at Dollarama for $2.50. It comes with 36 tea bags.

That works out to a cost of $0.06 per tea bag and $2.21 per 100 grams.

The price breakdown for how much you pay for how much you get is almost 80 cents less at Costco than at Dollarama.

Dollarama as a smaller-sized jar of peanut butter — 500 grams — for $3.75.

That works out to a cost of $0.75 per 100 grams.

So, if you need peanut butter more often, the Costco product is cheaper.

To get the same amount as you do at Costco, you'd have to buy four jars at Dollarama and spend $15.

Froot Loops

You might think that's cheaper because the price tag is lower, but when you break down that price by how much of the product you get, it actually costs $1.30 per 100 grams at Dollarama.

So, you save almost 50 cents for every 100 grams with the Costco product.

Even though the vanilla at Dollarama is cheaper on the price tag, you actually get more for less at Costco.
